how appropriate...

I'm working on one of my master's classes - Literacy and Learning in the Information Age - and my files aren't saving! Oh, and my paper is supposed to be about how great techology is and how I can't wait to use it some more in my classroom. Good times.

I think it's important to note that as I was reading through the materials and watching my video segments, I was excited about some of these ideas. Now, I simply want to kill my computer and tell the people in my class to jump off a cliff (including my professor). I'm so grown-up.

P.S. My next post will be positive...and I'll have some sleep under my belt. In the meantime, I am going to retype my paper and hope that everything works the way it should. Isn't technology the greatest!?!? (Remind me why I'm a teacher.)

reunited at last...

An old friend of mine from the INN/Western has a beautiful blog about her sweet family! You should all check it out! Enjoy!

I'm glad you found me Kate! I stayed up late last night reading through your blog...I love your honesty, your humility, your faith and the fact that you so willingly share it all with the rest of us. Your daughers are lucky to have you as their mother!

P.S. How did you stumble upon my blog? I mean, I can figure out our connections on Facebook...but blogging seems a bit different. Oh, and I would love a copy of the list that Amanda sent you about NY. My friend just moved there in April and I'm going to visit her in August. I would love to know what made the list...especially since Amanda lived there.

this one's for robin...

Yep, we were at Coulon Park on Sunday evening. How funny. Do you have a blog too? I would love to read about your adventures...and then I would know what you look like should our paths cross again. Where were you in the park that you saw us? Maybe I remember your face.

I love the internet...bringing people together, secretly! :)

happy birthday mom!

Today was my mom's birthday. I would have posted this sooner, but I wanted to include pictures from our celebration.

This is how things started out...my dad went outside and we didn't realize it. Next think you know, we hear the doorbell ring. When we answered, this is the face we were met with. He's so funny!

After dinner, we decided to head down to the water and walk. Things got all mixed up (Bobby took home the wrong set of keys)...so it was just Jordan, Ben and I walking.

These are my 2 favorite shots from the night (I wasn't good about taking many pictures). On the left side (or top), I told them I needed a photo for the blog. When I looked at the picture on my camera, I told my dad that his head was positioned so as to create a strange double-chin. I told them I wanted to take another shot. So, on the right side (or bottom) you'll see my mom hiding her laughter and my dad positioning his head in a strange manner.

Mom got some great gifts (a NorthFace fleece, a gift certificate to a restaurant at New Castle, a couple of books, an apron and some random creation), but I only got one shot of the apron/cape I made her. Ben didn't really want to model it for me, so I just draped it over his backside. (I wish I had a photo of Ben's creation for her...it was made of left-over fabric and tape.)

We had a great time and hopefully my mom felt loved and appreciated! She's the most amazing woman I know...seriously! She is remarkable in her love for others and the selfless attitude that goes along with it. However, her heart for Christ is the most awe-inspiring. Her life has been full of trials and yet she continually relies on Him and sings His praises. My mom means the world to me and I love her more than words can say!

Happy Birthday Mom!

more sewing fun...

On Wednesday night, we had another sewing class. This time we actually had the opportunity to create something. Check out the fun...and the incredible aprons!

Above - Kara & Christy ironing (and posing).

Above - My Fabric

And here are the final products...

We had a lot of fun and we were extremely proud of our work. A huge thanks goes out to Kora, our instructor. I should also let you know that we wore our aprons home and our husbands (who were altogether playing video games and watching Case) were prompted to shower us with compliments. Oh, and Kara is especially sensitive about her apron...she needs some affirmation. :)
