Stacy London and Clinton Kelly (What Not to Wear) are right. As much as I hate to admit it, flip-flops with a platform are not okay for a grown woman. I purchased my Reef flip-flops a while back. They've served me well for several summers and now I have to part with them. The "butter flip-flops" are too chunky...it's time to move on to a much thinner base. I have a pair of Rainbows that I love and they seem to be adult-appropriate. Oh, and I've also got a pair of Reefs with a "normal" sole. I'll have to get some more use out of those.
Can you suggest an age-appropriate pair of flip-flops? I am looking to replace these chunky Reefs...
Lame post, huh?

That is hilarious! I almost gave mine to the YL garage sale (well actually Chris tried to) but I was hoping they might come back into style one of these years... :( Guess I have to throw them in the pile.
We can comfort each other during our time of mourning. :)
I got some at Target that have a little bit of height but not much. Do the vertically challenged grown women get any grace on this?
No, the vertically challenged are the ones who are most affected by this fashion no-no. It tends to make you look shorter...instead of taller. It gives your legs a stumpy look. (According to Stacy and Clinton.) A heel is okay, but thick soles are the feature to avoid.
My favorite flip flops are Rainbows. They are not cheap, but man are they comfortable. Second - Teva "Mush"...they have some fun patterns instead of Rainbow's limited color selections. And third - Havianas...they come in EVERY color and patterns and aren't very expensive so you can have some fun.
Hmmm...I've got some black flip-flop shopping to do...I'm so OLD!! :)
P.S. Thanks for bursting my bubble, Anne... :)
I agree. I actually had some white chunky flip flops I bought on my honeymoon that I NEVER wore! I'd go Teva brand or something similar if you're looking for a good pair, because they last, AND are good for your feet! And I don't mean the normal Tevas... they actually have a good flip flop style.
Rainbows are the best, by far! They are expensive but worth it. That's what all the hip people in San Diego rock. Also, if you're in Hawaii any time soon, Locals are awesome. They are super cheap, you can pretty much get them at any ABC store, and they stand the test of time. Plus, you look cool wearing them on the mainland. They say "I've been places, I've seen things, EAT THAT"!
Oh yeah, I also meant to say, I'm pretty sure I remember when you bought those reefs.....they are old school. Remember when all the colored ones came out?!?!?!
I don't care what they say! I love my reef platform flip flops way too much to part with them!! :(
What does Stacy London know, anyways?
